Championship Division Entry Fee (36 Holes): $125/player; includes cart and range balls

Net Division Entry Fee (18 Holes): $75/player; includes cart and range balls

Eligibility: This tournament is open to any male amateur who has reached his 55th birthday by midnight of September 19 and is a member of a MSGA Member Clubs with an appropriate up-to-date USGA Index. Super Seniors must have reached their 65th birthday by midnight of September 19.  See Format/Field Size below for handicap limits for the championship and net winner competitions.  The Handicap index must be at the member club shown on the entry form, must be current on the date of the event and must be viewable on the verification site of GHIN.com

 

Any entry may be rejected by the MSGA at any time, including during the competition.  The reason for rejection of entry may include unbecoming conduct, such as violation of host club policies, or failure to comply with the requirements of the handicap system.

 

Refund Policy: A withdrawal prior to seven (7) days of the event will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. Medical refunds - There will not be a refund if a withdrawal is received less than seven days prior to the event without written medical excuse. Medical refunds will also be subject to a $25 processing fee.

Championship Information


Format/Field Size: The Championship Competition will be 36 holes stroke play, with the field reduced to the low 24 scores and ties after the 1st round.  The Super Senior Competition will be 36 holes stroke play, with the field reduced to the low 1/3 of scores and ties after the 1st round.   The championship and super senior index limit is 8.4.  The Champion will be the low gross 36 hole score in the field.  

 

The Net Winner Competition will be 18 holes stroke play conducted over a shorter course, approximately 500 yards shorter, with two age categories and an index limit of 18.0. There will be two age categories Senior (55 and over) and Super Senior (65 and over).  The date of the handicap index to be used for the tournament will be September 11, 2022.  All handicap indexes will be adjusted according to the slope rating of the course being played. 

 

Each entrant must select EITHER the Championship, Super Senior, or the Net Division and indicate his age group.  See Prizes below for age categories.

 

Carts: Automotive transportation is permitted for players and caddies. Cart fees are included in the entry fee. **New for 2022 - A player and his caddie may ride in a golf cart duing a round, but both may not ride at the same time. For pull cart policy at qualifying site, please contact the host club. Spectator Carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit.  

 

Starting Times: Tournament Starting Times will be emailed approximately seven days before the event. Times can also be found by visiting the 94th Maryland Senior Amateur Championship Tournament Portal or www.msga.org.

 

Practice Rounds: Additional information regarding practice rounds will be updated in the coming weeks.

 

Tournament Yardage: The official tournament yardage will be updated several days before the event. 

Estimated Championship Division Yardage: 6,450 yards (Black)

Estimated Super Senior/Net Division Yardage: 5,942 yards (Powder Blue)

 

Withdrawals/No Shows: Players who Withdraw or No Show during an event without a justified reason (injury, illness, family emergency, etc.) may not be allowed to participate in future MSGA events.  

 

Prizes:  The Champion’s name will be engraved on the “Warren Corkran” Cup.  Silver prizes will be awarded for the Senior Champion and the Super Senior Champion.  Appropriate prizes will also be awarded to the low age group scorers in both the championship and net winner competitions.  In each case, the age groups are Senior (55 and over) and Super Senior (65 and over).  In the event of a tie for the championship, there will be a hole-by-hole play-off at the conclusion of play.  A tie for any low net winner will be resolved by the USGA recommended method outlined in the Rules of Golf.

 

Posting: The MSGA will post amateur's scores to GHIN as a tournament score.
